Product Condition Standards for Listings
Product Group: Jerseys & Uniforms
This guide uses a streamlined 4-tier system inspired by collector standards, tailored for the Product Group "Jerseys & Uniforms". Each tier can include an optional "With Original Tags" flag.
Applied elements refer to names, numbers, sponsors, crests/emblems and patches/badges. References to buttons apply only where applicable.
Sellers must provide clear photos of key areas (applied elements and labels) and disclose all existing flaws to support the assigned grading.
Tier 1: Mint / Near Mint (NM)
Close to flawless → Ideal for most new stock and exceptionally well-preserved vintage pieces. New stock does not automatically qualify as “Mint / Near Mint”. Items should be individually inspected where feasible; sealed items may be graded based on visible condition and original packaging.
Permissible features:
1) Smallest production inaccuracies (minor flaws, see below)
2) No visible discolorations or stains
3) No odor or clean detergent scent only
4) Material and/or applied elements have no loss of shine or noticeable fading/dulling beyond the intended material finish
5) No loose/detached seams
6) No pilling/bobbling
7) No friction marks
8) Applied elements 100% intact
9) Buttons original and 100% intact
10) No tears, holes or missing elements (e.g. numbers, letters, buttons).
Tier 2: Very Good (VG)
Very good, well-maintained condition with light, inconspicuous signs of use.
Permissible features:
1) Smallest production inaccuracies (minor flaws, see below)
2) Smallest discolorations or stains (under 2 mm)
3) Clean detergent scent or neutral fabric/wardrobe odor
4) Material and/or applied elements have slight loss of shine or noticeable fading/dulling beyond the intended material finish, noticeable only on close inspection
5) Seams intact, at most slightly loosened
6) Light pilling/bobbling
7) Light friction marks
8) Applied elements with lifting/peeling/cracking (under 2 mm)
9) Buttons original, but slightly loose. Fully functional
10) No tears, holes or missing elements (e.g. numbers, letters, buttons).
Tier 3: Good (GD)
Visibly worn condition with clearly recognizable but not dominant signs of use.
Permissible features:
1) Medium production inaccuracies (moderate flaws, see below)
2) Lightly visible discolorations or stains (under 5 mm), not extensive/dominant
3) Light odor (e.g. mild, tolerable sweat or smoke odor) detectable only when closely smelled or worn
4) Material and/or applied elements have moderate loss of shine or noticeable fading/dulling beyond the intended material finish, noticeable at normal viewing distance
5) Partially stretched or loosened seams
6) Moderate pilling/bobbling
7) Moderate friction marks
8) Applied elements with lifting/peeling/cracking (under 5 mm)
9) Buttons original, but moderately loose. Not fully functional, but fixable
10) No tears, holes or missing elements (e.g. numbers, letters, buttons).
Tier 4: Damaged (DA)
Damaged condition. Any tears, holes, or missing elements (e.g. numbers or letters) automatically classify an item as “Damaged”. The extent of the damage may vary, and each listing is assessed individually based on the provided images.
Permissible features:
1) Major production inaccuracies (major flaws, see below)
2) Large, dominant or very dark discolorations/stains (5 mm or more)
3) Strong or persistent odor (e.g. sweat/smoke, intrusive) noticeable immediately
4) Material and/or applied elements have strong loss of shine or noticeable fading/dulling beyond the intended material finish
5) Ripped seams
6) Strong pilling/bobbling
7) Heavy friction marks
8) Applied elements with lifting/peeling/cracking (5 mm or more)
9) Chipped and broken buttons. Replacement buttons.
10) Holes, tears, missing elements (e.g. numbers, letters, buttons).
Notes on Production Flaws
To ensure consistency, production flaws (factory-related issues, not wear-related damage) are graded as follows.
Note: Construction-related deviations (cuts, seams) are evaluated more strictly than positional alignment, which may show minor variance without affecting structural integrity.
Minor (Tiers 1/2)
Minor (permissible in Mint/Near Mint (NM) and Very Good (VG)): Cosmetic only.
Permissible flaws:
1) No uneven cuts of applied elements (miscuts)
2) No detachment of applied elements
3) No color variation in fabric or applied elements
4) No fabric pull; loose thread only (fixable with scissors)
5) Crooked seam (under 2 mm)
6) Misalignment of fabric panel cut (under 2 mm)
7) Positional misalignment of applied elements (crooked or off-center, under 5 mm).
Moderate (Tier 3)
Moderate (permissible in Good): Noticeable but not dominant.
Permissible flaws:
1) Uneven cuts of applied elements (miscuts, under 2 mm)
2) Detachment of applied elements (under 2 mm)
3) Minor color variation in fabric or applied elements
4) Fabric pull (under 2 mm); loose thread allowed (fixable with scissors)
5) Crooked seam (under 5 mm)
6) Misalignment of fabric panel cut (under 5 mm)
7) Positional misalignment of applied elements (crooked or off-center, under 1 cm).
Major (Tier 4)
Major (pushes to Damaged): Highly visible and/or structural.
Examples:
1) Uneven cuts of applied elements (miscuts, 2 mm or more)
2) Detachment of applied elements (2 mm or more)
3) Major color variation in fabric or applied elements
4) Fabric pull (2 mm or more)
5) Crooked seam (5 mm or more)
6) Misalignment of fabric panel cut (5 mm or more)
7) Positional misalignment of applied elements (crooked or off-center, 1 cm or more).
For older items (e.g., 20+ years), light age-related fading may be allowed in higher tiers if not dominant.
